Heritage on parade in the Valley

The sun was out and so were the crowds for the annual Rainier Valley Heritage Parade and Festival on Saturday, Aug. 16, along Rainier Avenue South in the heart of Columbia City. The day started with the Happy Feet and Family Fun Run at 10 a.m. followed by the parade from 11 a.m.-noon and the festival from noon-3 p.m. at Ferdinand and 37th by the Columbia School. The parade's grand marshal was Jean VelDyke, and Arts in Motion musicians were on hand to perform on the festival's main stage. There was also a "Bite of the Valley" featuring 10 area restaurants, and children's activities. The parade is produced by the Rainier Chamber of Commerce. Photos: PAGE LEVEL[[In-content Ad]]
