Harold Loer Rehkopf

Harold Loer Rehkopf of Seattle passed away peacefully Dec. 19, 2008. He was 89.

Mr. Rehkopf is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Vivian Rehkopf of West Seattle, and three children, Larry (Joanne) Rehkopf, Sallie Jo (Steven) Cross and Robert (Danine) Rehkopf, all of Seattle. Also surviving are two grandsons, David (Nicole Angiel) Rehkopf of Berkeley, Calif., and Jon (Megan Kelton-Rehkopf) Rehkopf of Seattle and three great-grandchildren, Hans, Cleo and Sonja and many nieces and nephews.

Born July 24, 1919 to Lawrence and Eva Rehkopf in Seattle, Mr. Rehkopf graduated from the University of Washington in 1942 in electrical engineering. During World War II, he helped develop radar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr. Rehkopf was an engineer at the Boeing Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1978. He was a very industrious man, having designed and built the family home in West Seattle where he and his wife resided for more than 50 years.

Both Mr. Rehkopf and his wife were born and reared on Queen Anne Hill and graduated from Queen Anne High School. Members of the family have resided in the Rehkopf Queen Anne home for more than 95 years.

Mr. Rehkopf was a much loved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Park West Care Center in West Seattle for the wonderful care they provided for Mr. Rehkopf.
