Guest columnist lives in Wallingford

You (Matthew Wilemski, ( "Notice of Proposed Word Use Action") live in Wallingford, although it seems to me that people pick their neighborhood based on what the real estate agent told them (i.e., if they said they wanted a house in Fremont, the agent told them your neighborhood is Fremont; but if they wanted a house in Wallingford, the agent said the house was in Wallingford).

Back in 1998, the city declared that everything west of Aurora [Avenue North], east of Interstate 5, north of Lake Union and south of [North] 60th [Street] (!) is in the Wallingford planning area.

Since that time, we have ceded to Fremont the area that is south of Bridge Way [North] and west of Stone Way [North]. That block of houses doesn't have to take a bridge to get to Fremont.

However, all Seattle's neighborhoods overlap and share areas. So we have Freeford (or Wallmont) and Wallinglake (or Green Lakeford).

So take advantage of belonging to two communities and enjoy the best of both.
