GATZ

On the Boards launches its 2007-08 season with the Friday-Sunday, Sept. 21-23 return of New York City's Elevator Repair Service (ERS) and the Seattle première of "GATZ," a creative staging of F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby" - every single word of the novel performed by 13 performers. It'll cost you six hours of your life (plus a 75-minute dinner break).

To quote the press release: "ERS' experimental adaptation replaces the veneer of the '20s Jazz Age with the low-rent office of a mysterious small business, where an employee (the Wooster Group's Scott Shepherd) finds a ragtag copy of the novel in his desk, begins to read aloud and does not stop.

As coincidences begin to emerge between his teeming office and the novel, it is no longer clear whether he's reading the book or the book is reading him." 100 W. Roy St. Tickets: $24, 217-9888, ontheboards.org[[In-content Ad]]
