The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Visitor Center is hosting an event to bring together the soccer-centric culture of Western Washington with the globally shared passion for futból. On Saturday, March 23, the Visitor Center will host its second, free family event: Family Day: Kick it Forward.
The event features hands-on activities designed to help inspire people to make a difference, such as making soccer balls from recycled materials, learning how kicking a ball can generate electricity, and spoken word and story time focused on how soccer brings joy to kids around the world.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to experience a pickup street soccer game and watch players who competed for the Homeless World Cup demonstrate their skills on a temporary field just outside the Visitor Center.
Former Seattle Sounders FC player Taylor Graham will also make a guest appearance to share stories of making a difference locally and globally through soccer.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 440 Fifth Ave. N.
