Full house for Swedish pancakes

Guests from Magnolia and beyond braved the elements early Saturday morning for a Swedish pancake breakfast fundraiser hosted by Magnolia Lutheran Church.

The icy streets and slippery sidewalks (though church staff had salted sidewalks around the church) did not deter guests who filled the church's lower room where volunteers and church staff served coffee and juice and cooked up sausages and delicate Swedish pancakes.

Chris Backman and his wife, Georgia have been helping out with the annual tradition since it began 17 years ago. Chris was in the kitchen making the food while Georgia was out amongst the diners making sure they were fine.

Each year the event raises about $1,200 for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Funds also go to Lutheran Community Services. The church's former pastor, Doug Langholz, died from ALS.

The church's current pastor, Mark Reiff, and members Steve Krippaehne and Mike Olden stood side by side dishing out breakfast to guests.[[In-content Ad]]
