The Seattle Department of Transportation will close the Fremont Bridge to all users from 2 to 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 4, and Thursday, April 5, and close again to motor vehicles only from 9 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. the following day.
For the overnight closure, the bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles; marine traffic will not be affected.
As with previously scheduled closings, work progress or inclement weather can affect the closure dates.
During the early morning closure, crews will perform work associated with the upcoming mechanical and electrical improvements. This requires the bascule bridge leaves to remain slightly open (positioned in the air).
During the overnight closure, the contractor will grind off the existing pavement markings, so residents should expect some noise from 9 to 10 p.m. The contractor will then shift the traffic lanes to the west side so work can begin on the central portion of the bridge.[[In-content Ad]]
