Greg Cole, a 1968 Queen Anne High School graduate, has coached the Seattle-Phoenix Pirates to their third World Series championship in the National Adult Baseball Association's 38-year-old-and-over bracket.
While in Seattle, the Pirates recorded an overall record of 148 wins and 42 losses under Cole's leadership. When Cole moved to Phoenix in 2001 and started a new Pirates team, his charges won 132 games and lost 30.
Half of this year's championship Pirates team hailed from Seattle, and half were Phoenix residents. They beat the Mexican All Stars 7-1 for the crown.
Each October more than 150 semi-pro teams compete in the N.A.B.A. World Series in Phoenix, Ariz., which is divided into age groups 18 and over, 28 and over, 38 and over, 48 and over, and 58 and over.
