Fantastic Fatima!

The Our Lady of Fatima seventh- and eighth-grade boys finished off their season in fine fashion last Sunday by capturing the CYO City Championship with a 4-0 win over St. Joe's. The Falcons defeated Assumption/St. Bridget 6-5 in a thrilling, extra inning semi-final game on Wednesday May 27. Trevor Hansen and Nick Ulacia led the Fatima offense with timely RBIs and Jack Murphy dominated on the mound, throwing nearly 100 pitches in seven innings of work and allowing one earned run. However, the play of the game was Jack Peterson's game saving diving catch in center field to send the game into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, back to back doubles with two outs from Tom Paulsen and Jack Murphy gave the Falcons the decisive lead and advanced them to Sunday's much anticipated rematch against St. Joe's. Sunday's championship game was nearly a one man show as Dylan Wade struck out 17 of the 22 batters he faced en route to a complete game shutout. Jack Murphy and Trevor Hansen provided all the offense needed as the Falcons cruised to their second city championship in the past three years.
