Interested in helping schoolchildren understand the science of climate change? This Saturday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m., Lisa Shimizu of KEXP 90.3 FM and The Climate Project will present a 40-minute slide show especially designed for children 8 through 12.
So what's so special about her take on global warming? This is the presentation that served as the basis for the award-winning Al Gore film "An Inconvenient Truth."
Students from Nova High School's Earth Justice Project will lead activities around putting climate change solutions to work. Families will receive a copy of "The Low Carbon Diet," a how-to guide showing easy ways for families to reduce their carbon footprint while supplies last.
The event, sponsored by KEXP 90.3 FM, ParentMap, Grist.org and the Bullitt Foundation, will take place downstairs at Town Hall, Eighth Avenue and Seneca Street. Kids 12 and under may attend free (though the event is not recommended for children younger than 8). Adults get in for $5 - but they don't get in at all if not accompanied by children!
Tickets are required for all attendees and can be obtained via www.brownpapertickets.com or 1-800-838-3006.[[In-content Ad]]
