Ernest Chester Horman was born and raised in the Seattle area. It was here that he met and married his high school sweetheart, Peggy, whom he was married to for 42 years. After serving in the army in WWII, they raised their family of three children in Magnolia and Ernie worked in construction. As he lived his life, Ernie taught his kids and grandkids compassion, adventured with them, played with them and coached them, showed them what hard work was, and showed them the importance of being involved in church and loving Magnolia Presbyterian.
After retiring, Ernie enjoyed spending time in Sun City, lawn bowling, stained glass making, gardening, mac computing, traveling with his second wife, Cecile, and playing games by the “Ernie Horman Rules.” He will always be remembered by those who loved him as a man who kept himself busy and was full of life, a man who was hard working, a handy man, a little competitive, and a man who laughed, loved, and served the church and people.
Ernie celebrated his 90th birthday in January and after 90 years of enjoying the life and the world that God gave him, went to be with Jesus on June 25th.
He is survived by his second wife, Cecile; his children Janet (Philip), Gordon (Marlene), and Mark (Mary); 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Ernie’s family and friends are invited to celebrate his life with a Memorial Service on Sunday, July 14th at 3:00pm at Magnolia Presbyterian Church, 3051-28th Ave. W., Seattle. Remembrances may be brought or sent to the Magnolia Presbyterian Church Memorial Building Fund.
