Elliott Bay Marina to host Orion Day of Safety

To encourage all boaters to get their vessels in safe operating condition for the coming season, Elliott Bay Marina (2601 W. Marina Place) is once again hosting a Day of Safety on May 18, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event, sponsored by Orion and Fisheries Supply, is free and open to all boats and boaters.

During the event, the marina will accept expired flares and have new flares for sale at a discounted rate; Cintas will be on-site to provide fire-extinguisher certifications; the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will provide free safety checks; and Bob Meng of On-Water Training will conduct free safety seminars, from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Elliott Bay Marina Day of Safety started small in 2010, with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary providing free safety inspections for the marina’s tenants. In 2010, the Auxiliary did roughly 30 vessel inspections; last year, it grew to more than 50. This year, the marina is opening the event up to all boaters and will provide free guest moorage for any visiting vessel looking for an inspection.[[In-content Ad]]
