BILL WINKLER
"This is our economy: you either grow or you die. Either growth or decay is inevitable, and our economic system is based on growth. I like the growth - it is unbelievable. Don't fight it, enjoy it and die."
HANS
"No. You can't avoid it. More and more people are coming to Seattle; Queen Anne is just accommodating. You can't put a fence around the Hill and say, 'Oh no, you cannot come in.' This is not a gated Hill."
MATT KNUDSEN
"Yes. There are too many condos, trash in the street, rat dogs and flowerpots turned over late at night by drunks. It is losing its local feel and starting to feel like a California strip mall."
KATE BAGLEY
"I don't think so. I will be sorry to see Thriftway go, but I think that having a Bartell's on top of the Hill instead of the very bottom will be nice. The Queen Anne cleanup and streetscaping projects are all good ideas, too. At this point I don't think that we are growing too quickly."
VARI McKAY
"I would say yes. I like the new boutiques that are coming in, but the fact that condos are on top many of the buildings on Queen Anne Ave. makes it feel crowded and saturated."
