Seattle Pacific University Theatre kicks off its 50th season with a production of Gulf View Drive, the third and final play in the Nibroc Trilogy, written by playwright Arlene Hutton. Directly following the opening night performance on Thursday, Nov. 11, Hutton will be a featured guest at a special reception and post show discussion about her play. In "Gulf View Drive," the Nibroc Trilogy couple May and Raleigh have moved to Florida, where crushed dreams and a turbulence of events threatens to ruin their comfortable lives. Their dream house is soon overrun by needy relatives, and further testing the couple's love. Offering a glimpse of life in the 1950s, May and Raleigh begin to make unconventional decisions in the face of a changing world. Performances are held in the Mainstage Theatre inside of SPU's McKinley Hall and begin at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 11-13, 18-20, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Nov. 20. Organizers of www.Farmboat.org are holding an old fashioned indoor farmers market aboard the historic steamship "Virginia V" moored at Lake Union Park in November and December. The Virginia V is the last remaining survivor of a vast fleet of independently operated vessels that transported farm products around Puget Sound in the early 1900s. 1964 science-fiction film that regularly appears on lists of the worst films ever made. Martians, upset that their children have become obsessed with TV shows from Earth which extol the virtues of Santa Claus, launch an expedition to kidnap Kris Kringle. Directed by Nicholas Webster, the film stars John Call as Santa Claus and an eight year-old Pia Zadora playing the role of one of the Martian children. JBL Theatre, admission is free.
