Seattle Schools boardmember Michael DeBell, who represents Magnolia and Queen Anne, will be the new board president beginning in January.
DeBell was elected to the school board in 2005. He has served as the board's vice president and legislative representative for the past two years.
He has also served on the audit and finance committee, the operations committee and the BEX Levy oversight committee.
DeBell has been an active businessman and community leader in Seattle, particularly in education funding and school levy initiatives. He is a member of Seattle Public Schools International Education Advisory Board. He and his wife have three children in Seattle Public Schools.[[In-content Ad]]
