Classical KING FM 98.1, headquartered at 10 Harrison Street near the Seattle Center, will devote the month of September to previewing the 2012-2013 music performance season, featuring more than 30 Northwest music groups ranging from concerts and operas to ballet and theatre.
“There is such a wealth of music here in the Pacific Northwest, with literally hundreds of concerts this season. The choices can be overwhelming,” said KING FM Program Director Bryan Lowe in a prepared statement. “New Season Showcase gives our community a one-stop place to preview concerts before you go hear it live.”
From 9am to 10 pm daily from Sept. 1-30, KING FM will air musical highlights and previews of program pieces culled from dozens of upcoming Northwest performances. KING FM’s regular program, Northwest Focus, which broadcasts at 8 pm on Fridays, will take a more in-depth approach with interviews, insights, and local performances. The KING FM Arts Channel provides a serious behind-the-scenes component, posting over 30 artist interviews online, with emphasis on the performing arts such as dance, music, and theatre.
A few highlights by week include:
Sept. 1-9: Early Music Guild, Seattle Chamber Music Festival, and Pacific Northwest Ballet.
