First Free Methodist Church has published a cookbook full of tried and true recipes from kitchens across the Pacific Northwest- all to honor its retiring pastor, Mark Abbott.
The book, titled "Recipes to Remember," will go on sale in April for $20 at First Free Methodist Church at 3200 Third Ave. W. Church Office Phone: 206-281-2240.
The books are being sold to honor Abbott and his wife, Mary Ann, and to raise money for the H. Mark Abbott Preaching Lectureship Endowment at Seattle Pacific University.
Church members and friends compiled and submitted some of their own favorite dishes to create this collection of more than 650 recipes.
Some of the recipes in the collection include George Johnson's Cinnamon Raisin Bread, Caramel Corn, Thanksgiving Dinner for 100, Vietnamese Cabbage Chicken Salad, Mocha Punch and Curried Rice Salad.
According to parishionerJo Lewis, with the help of G&R Publishing in Waverly, Iowa, the group published the spiral-bound book illustrated in color with original art and photos of the Abbotts during the 28 years they have the served the community of Queen Anne Hill, SPU and the many members of the First Free Methodist Church. Funds from the book will also support the SPU endowment that trains ministerial students.
"We had a great time putting this book together and hope other people find the recipes as useful as we have," said Rosemary Kneeling.
