Christopher Togawa Insurance celebrates quarter-century mark

Queen Anne resident Christopher Togawa marks the 25th year of Christopher Togawa Insurance Agency (CTIA) on Saturday, Feb. 23, with an appreciation event for clients, family, friends and referral partners.

The agency, at 222 Etruria St., has two employees: Erwin Eykel and Diane Yuen-Ginnett.

Togawa, 49, who grew up on Beacon Hill, has been active in the Queen Anne community over the last two decades, having served on the board of directors for the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce and Queen Anne Helpline. His agency has also been one of the prime sponsors of the Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run & Walk.

Togawa started out as an independent agent representing PEMCO Insurance in 1988. In 2005, he branched out on his own and moved his business from the PEMCO Financial Center downtown to lower Queen Anne.

Togawa said he encourages his clients to be informed about their insurance needs. “Our clients are like us,” he noted, “friendly, responsible, who pay their bills and ask questions. It’s an easy relationship.”

That relationship, Togawa added, is responsible for a higher-than-average client retention level.

“Wow, I must be getting old,” Togawa said in a phone interview. “I’ve had clients for 15 and 20 years.”

CTIA (www.togawa-insurance.com) represents PEMCO Insurance, Safeco Insurance and Progressive.
