Chocolopolis celebrates fourth anniversary with free chocolate events

Starting off with a July 7 Japanese tea ceremony, Chocolopolis, 1527 Queen Anne Ave. N. will celebrate its fourth anniversary throughout the month with more than a dozen free events.

The retail chocolate store’s anniversary celebration in the following weeks include chocolate demonstrations by Chocolopolis Chocolatiers, special Thursday happy hour themes, an invitation-only event for Frequent Bar Club members, tastings by bean-to-bar chocolate makers, and serious chocolate talks by experts in cacao. Three chocolate lovers will win a year of free chocolate in the store’s annual Golden Bar Giveaway contest.

The Japanese tea ceremony will feature students from the East West Chanoyu Center. Owner Lauren Adler says the harmony, respect, purity and tranquility that characterize a Japanese tea ceremony, given her business’s “reverence for single-origin chocolate,” would be an appropriate start to the month’s anniversary celebrations. Besides, Adler notes, “chocolate and tea pair well together.”

The tea ceremony will begin at 1pm with a second starting at 1:30 p.m. Guests will have the chance to experience the tea ceremony and taste tea paired with a sweet chocolate.
