A lecture on art, architecture and the Cuban Revolution of forms John Loomis, FAIA, author of the new edition of “Revolution of Forms: Forgotten Art Schools,” will speak at the Seattle Public Library, Central Branch, 1000 Fourth Ave. on Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m.
The focus is the Escuelas Nacionales de Arte, considered an outstanding architectural achievement that stood neglected for many years in the western suburbs of Havana.
The book takes the reader from the euphoric beginnings of the Cuban Revolution through the subsequent convergence and collision of architecture, ideology and culture in 1960s Cuba.
The lecture is in conjunction with the screening of the documentary, “Unfinished Spaces,” directed by Alysa Nahmias, at the Northwest Film Forum July 13-15.
