“Coal Hard Truth” forum

Magnolia United Church of Christ, 3555 W. McGraw St. will host a forum on June 20, 7-9 p.m. on  the potential rail shipment of millions of tons of coal through Seattle destined for Asia. Points to be covered include regional impacts and specifics of the project; the threat to the local fishing and boating industry; health threats and global warming. Seeking Magnolia p-patch gardeners

Interested in gardening at Magnolia’s first  p-patch at Manor Park on 28th West? Plots are assigned by hours donated to making it happen. Construction date 2012. Volunteer now by contacting Susan Casey at 282-3583 or scompost@q.com . Up to 30 plots are on a first come first serve basis. Join the new Magnolia p-patch community in planning and breaking ground.

 

Magnolia Girl Scouts

Interested in community service, camping, leadership? Come join our Girl Scout Troop. We are a Father run troop that focuses on Outdoor Skills and Service Projects.  Moms are welcome to participate and lead also. For more information, call 206-696-3434, Jim.V.Petersen@Gmail.com.

Spanish Conversation

Hola. The Spanish Conversation Group meets in the Magnolia library on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month, from 5:30 to 6:30  pm. We are a small group with varying levels of ability. Bienvenidos a todos. Call 285-4290 for more information.

looking for people who work or reside on Queen Anne to join its Board. PPQA works with other community organizations and city government to enhance the public streetscape of the hilltop retail core of Queen Anne Avenue N.  For further information, please visit: ppqa.org. on the second Tuesday of each month at the Helpline office at 7:30 a.m. The Helpline office is at 311 W. McGraw. 206-282-1540.

 

American Legion Post 123

in Magnolia meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. All veterans are invited to attend. Veterans do include all active, reserve and guard members. For more information call Elizabeth 206-909-6853.

 

Alcoholics Anonymous 

meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Church of the Ascension, 2330 Viewmont Way W. 587-2838; and  7:30 p.m. Fridays, St. Anne’s Church, 1411 First Ave. W. and Lee St. 206-587-2838. The program also meets at noon Mondays, at First Free Methodist Church, 3200 Third Ave. W. 206-625-0000.
