Blood drive on hill a success

Troop has collected 84 pints this year

Though the Halloween weekend blood drive risked attracting vampires, none were seen and 29 pints of blood were successfully donates Saturday at the Queen Anne United Methodist Church at 1606 Fifth Ave. W.
The drive was sponsored by the Queen Anne Boy Scout Troop 70 and the Queen Anne United Methodist Church. It attracted 32 donors who gave 29 total pints of blood.
Saturday's drive was the third sponsored by the troop this year. In all, the troop has collected 84 pints. That number translates into helping 252 people in the greater Puget Sound area who are in need of red cells, platelets and plasma.
What began as a troop member's Eagle project more than year ago has evolved into an ongoing mission of service to others by Troop 70 in partnership with the Puget Sound Blood Center.
Boy Scout Troop 70 has three blood drives scheduled for 2011, the first being on Saturday March 5. The donation process takes about an hour.[[In-content Ad]]
