In memory of Bernard T. Norris on our Wedding Anniversary and Father’s Day. Bernard T. Norris a former resident of this community passed away recently at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, Wa.
He was born in Neosho County, Kansas on February, 11, 1923 to James L. and Leila Norris, the third of ten children. He grew up on a farm in Kansas, attending public schools. In the early 1940’s he and a friend went to California where he worked as a dump truck driver and on a derrick for Standard Oil. In 1947 he and another friend ventured to Golva, N.D after learning of an injured farmer there needing help harvesting his crops.
Bernard was to remain in that area for the next 9 years except for 2 calls from Uncle Sam. The first from Nov. 1948 to Dec. 1949 and the second; Oct.1950 to Sept. 1951 during which time he was a lineman in Korea.
Returning to N.D. in 1952 he and his future wife Catherine L. Kreitinger became reacquainted and married on June 19, 1956. To this union 4 daughters-twins, Mary and Julie; Debbie; Kathy and 2 sons Joe and Jim were born. At this time they lived in Montana, eventually moving to Seattle, Wa in 1961.
Bernard worked for the Boeing Aircraft Co. 32 years as an electrician- the last 15 years on the flight line in customer delivery.
Preceding him in death were his parents; 2 brothers Hiram and Bill; son in law Paul S. Andrews; great grandson Andrew Carnell and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include his wife Catherine; 6 children; 13 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 brothers including triplets; 3 sisters including twins and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Pius X church, Mountlake Terrace, Wa. Internment at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery, Shoreline, Wa. Remembrances may be made to the V.F.W. or Medics.
