Summerfest officials want local artists to submit their creations for possible selection as the event’s main poster art for 2012.
When Tracy Bixby’s whimsical acrylic painting, Magnolia, was selected for the Magnolia Summerfest 2011 poster art, she was delighted. “It’s a great feeling to see your work all over the Village and beyond,” said Bixby.
Now another artist will have the opportunity to have his or her artwork featured on this year’s Magnolia Summerfest poster.
“We encourage artists working in two-dimensional visual media to submit their artwork by May 1,” said Marti Stave, Chair of Magnolia Summerfest and Art Show. “The piece that most exemplifies the theme ‘Summertime in the Northwest’ and catches the spirit of this fun community event will be used as the backdrop for the 11” X 17” Summerfest poster.”
In addition to having his or her art featured as the official Summerfest poster backdrop, the winning poster artist receives a 10’ X 10’ booth at the Summerfest Art Show, slated for August 3-4 at Magnolia Playfield. If an artist isn’t chosen for the poster contest, showing their work at the Summerfest Art Show is still a great way to go.
For the poster contest, online digital submissions are preferred but arrangements can be made for original artwork to be reviewed as well.
