The holidays have arrived, and starting Dec. 1 Columbia City will ring in the season with carols, cocoa, and surprises at the Seventh Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The Columbia City Business Association's (CCBA) tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. at the southwest corner of Rainier Avenue South and South Hudson Street with live carols and entertainment. State Representative Eric Pettigrew, from the 37th Legislative District, will deliver the event's keynote address.
After the 40-foot tree is lit, children will have the opportunity to visit Santa who, from 7-8 p.m., will be visiting KC's Florist, located at 4873 Rainier Avenue South. Coffee, hot chocolate and cookies will also be provided courtesy of Starbucks and Tutta Bella Neapolitan Pizzeria. Prior to the tree lighting,
RetroActive Kids will also be offering a free ornament-making party from 3-6 p.m. at 4859 Rainier Avenue South. Additional holiday events include an opportunity for kids to meet with Santa during his visit to Geraldine's Counter on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 1-3 p.m.
Then, for the men who need a little more time with their Christmas shopping, RetroActive Kids will be holding its first ever Guys Night Out on Saturday, Dec. 22, from 8-9:30 p.m.featuring private shopping complete with a game on the big screen, root beer and nuts.
