Ann Karis has been driving with Senior Services’ Volunteer Transportation Program in Magnolia and Queen Anne since 1990. In addition to spending her time with St. Demetrios Greek Church and on golf courses, she enjoys volunteering with seniors.
She picks up elders at their homes once per week and waits with them at medical appointments before taking them home again.
The past 20 years of driving have shown Ann the value of volunteer service. She often says that she gets more out of it than the clients do! Remarks Volunteer Coordinator Donald Benedict, “I can always count on Ann.”
Volunteer Transportation is recruiting more drivers like Ann to help seniors in the Magnolia/Queen Anne area. The program is flexible – you drive your own vehicle and choose the weekdays, times and areas in which you’d like to drive!
The program also offers supplemental liability insurance. Drivers report that volunteering with the program has increased their own quality of life. For more information, contact Melissa at (206) 748-7588 or melissat@seniorservices.org, or visit www.seniorservices.org.
