Aegis of Kirkland's Best wins organization's director of the year

Amy Best, activities director with Aegis Living in Totem Lake, was recently recognized as the organization's director of the year.

Within her assisted living community of 50 senior residents, Best implements what Aegis Living has defined as the six components of optimal living: beauty, health, spirituality, learning, humor and community.

At a recent presentation, Best displayed images of residents and the transformation that's possible. One resident had been fairly withdrawn, and consistently sat with her head drooping down, obviously not engaged.

Best had planned a day of beauty for the residents, which included lots of pampering, make up application, dressing up with big strings of pearls, fancy hats and hair styling. The photo of this resident upon the completion of this activity showed her sitting upright, with a broad smile. "Everyone has the need the feel beautiful," Amy commented.
