A new home for New City

The New City Art Center has settled into its new, long-term home at 1404 18th Ave. The new location consists of a 900 square-foot performance space. The New City Art Center will provide residencies for individual artists and homeless theater companies, as well as initiate multi-disciplinary programs and service events.

New City productions, under the leadership of founding artistic director John Kazanjian, will remain the organization's artistic center.

Programming will begin in January 2008 with a resident company production. Shady Line Productions will stage a new work by Kristen Kosmas. In February, pending performance rights, the New City Gay & Lesbian Theater Project will stage a work by lesbian performance artist Holly Hughes. Also, the New City Arts Center will restore it signature event: the Actors-Playwrights-Directors Festival, an annual showcase for Seattle theater artists that operated from 1982 to 1996. Application information will be available on Dec. 1. For more information, contact newcitytheater@comcast.net.[[In-content Ad]]
