A neighborhood high school once more for Queen Anne and Magnolia?

Members of the former Queen Anne & Magnolia High School Task Force, a parent volunteer group, have begun working on a policy proposal for a predictable, comprehensive, neighborhood-situated middle and high school for students living in Downtown, Belltown, South Lake Union, Queen Anne, and Magnolia. They are hosting a neighborhood meeting Tuesday, May 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Catharine Blaine School, 2550 34th Ave. W.

The agenda includes four focus areas to be discussed:

■ academic and extracurricular

■ public schools vs. private schools

■ financial considerations

■ equity

Heading up the meeting are Lisa Bogen and Phil Crocker. Bogen is a Magnolia resident and public school elementary parent who has provided leadership to the high school assignment resolution effort for years. Crocker, a Queen Anne resident and public school elementary parent who brings experience addressing complex issues for large school districts as director of PK-12 education for a national consulting firm; he is volunteering his time on this effort as a parent.

All interested parties are welcome to attend.
