Garrett Spragins, a Lawton School third grader, made a hole in one during the Northwest Junior Golf Tour's Mini Tour tournament at McCormick Woods golf course in Port Orchard, Sunday, Oct. 19.
Spragins' shot was 122 yards at hole No. 17 from the red tees and the shot has been reported to the US Golf Association. His playing partners signed his scorecard and it will be reflected on the records of McCormick Woods' hole-in-one records.
"I am certainly proud, but as a person that has played golf for over 37 years and never made a hole in one, am all the more blown away that he has his first hole in one at age 8," said Garrett Spragins' father, Alan Spragins.
Garrett said when he hit the ball he thought it was going to go over the green. And when it went in the cup he gave his dad a hug. His mother, Nancy watched from the sidelines.
"She just started laughing," Garrett said.
Garrett wants to continue golfing but he also likes basketball, soccer and baseball. He's a Magnolia Little League pitcher.[[In-content Ad]]
