Queen Anne’s Evelyn Reich pretends to light the first candle on a menorah she made out of recycled materials at The Jewish Day School of Seattle in Bellevue, where she is a student.
Her practice run took place a few days before Hanukkah, which began the evening of Dec. 8 with the lighting of the first candle in commemoration of the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem in 165 B.C.E., after the Jewish victory over the Greek-Syrians.
