Kathryn Hodges was joined by two of her sons and a granddaughter during a tandem skydive in Snohomish on Aug. 15, the 103-year-old Bayview resident attempting to set a record as the oldest woman and person to do so.

Hodges made the leap with Skydive Snohomish, and she is awaiting confirmation of her record-breaking feat.

The 103-year-old Seattle woman was born in Tacoma in 1916. She was an avid painter, and holds a Master of Fine Arts degree. She taught at the University of Washington and Seattle Pacific College.

Hodges raised five sons with her husband, Warren H. Hodges, who passed away in 2006. They were married for 66 years.

Bayview communications director Jill Chang said Hodges has inspired other residents to take the plunge, and another outing with Skydive Snohomish is planned for the future.
