On Saturday, March 24, the 550 Little League boys and girls from 50 Magnolia Little League teams and the Scouts from Troop 80 gathered at the top of McGraw Street to kick off the season.

The Magnolia Little League parade is an annual tradition on the last Saturday in March, and as has become tradition in Magnolia, an escort from Seattle Police followed by Fire Engine 41 from Seattle Fire started the event.

Saturday turned out to be sunny and mild, a perfect day to start the season. The national anthem was wonderfully performed by the Lawton School choir as Troop 80 presented our nation’s colors. The Mariner Moose and KISS 106.1 FM were on hand to turn up the fun! Following the parade, the young ballplayers participated in the MLB Pitch, Hit and Run competition.

The community response was overwhelmingly positive with an occasional complaint.

“Over 500 kids, families, baseball, sunshine and our nation’s flag and anthem,” said Keith Overa, MLL President. “Difficult to complain about a perfect day in Magnolia,”
