Seattle Parks and Recreation is heating up the Queen Anne Pool in anticipation of a March 11 reopening following major reconstruction.

The pool closed in mid-October to remove and replace deck slab, but structural safety concerns had to be addressed when the north foundation was found to be crumbling. An electrical conduit and plumbing line were also found within a pool beam and had to be relocated.

Queen Anne Pool coordinator Ann Busch said construction wrapped up last week, and SPR is now cleaning the facility and reheating and balancing the water in the pool.

“We really are not opening with a splash,” she said.

The pool is planned to reopen in time for early morning lap swimming 6-7:30 a.m. on Monday, March 11.

“It’s a nice soft opening,” Busch said, “though we do plan to have some special events through the week.”
