Moving traffic may be the main use of city streets, but for three hours next Thursday, First Avenue West at Crockett Street will be utilized for anything but.

Queen Anne Greenways is sponsoring its second annual “playstreet” from 4 to 7 p.m. on July 27, and the event promises to have a little something for everyone.

Scooters, pedal cars, blocks, chalk, hula hoops, foosball, and other equipment will be provided from the Queen Anne Community Center, and staffers may provide demonstration of class activities.

Table and yard games will also return this year, courtesy of Scott Cooper of Blue Highway Games, while several new activities have been added to the fray.

Christine Woten, children’s librarian at the Queen Anne branch of the Seattle Public Library, will have arts and crafts for children, and for older kids seeking a more physical challenge, Don Cheyette of Seattle Adventure Sports will be on hand with his mobile climbing wall.
Liz McQuiston of Once Upon a Time will be giving away balloons, and will have other surprises in store.

A yoga session led by Corey Lynn Atencio is set for 4:30 p.m.

With the event held alongside the weekly Queen Anne Farmers Market, Greenways is sponsoring the Snake Suspenderz band from 5 to 7 p.m. to perform for attendees of both. That also means attendees can grab a bite from the fleet of food trucks that serve the market as well, and tables and chairs will be provided for those seeking a sit-down meal, or for other activities.

While sponsored by Greenways, support for this year’s playstreet has also been provided Queen Anne Community Center Advisory Board and the Queen Anne Chamber of Commerce.
