Climate Pledge Arena and the Seattle Kraken last week announced details of opening week festivities to celebrate Seattle’s brand-new arena at Seattle Center.

Climate Pledge Arena will serve as the home of the 32nd NHL team Seattle Kraken and the four-time WNBA champions Seattle Storm.

Construction for the 18,000-seat sports and entertainment arena broke ground in December of 2018.

According to a press release, opening week activities celebrate the work of the thousands of construction, trade and craft workers who have worked on the project and honor community partners and neighbors.

Opening week also celebrates “the vitality of Seattle Center as it approaches the 60th Anniversary of the 1962 World’s Fair, in April 2022, the legacy of an arts and cultural hub and public gathering place that fair founders envisioned,” according to the release.

Climate Pledge Arena’s Grand Opening Week will include several large-scale and high-profile events
