Parking lot stalker

Police responded at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, to a grocery store in the 600 block of First Avenue North for an attempted robbery.

The victim said she’d just finished shopping and was walking with her groceries through the parking lot to her car when she noticed the suspect was following her.

She attempted to change her route, but the suspect continued following her and cornered her, asking for money. She told him she didn’t have any money and asked him to move out of her way. The suspect said the victim looked like she had money before grabbing her purse with one hand and her arm with the other. The two struggled over the bag before witnesses stepped in and pulled the suspect away. The suspect remained on scene for about five minutes before leaving the parking lot.

Responding officers located him at Queen Anne Avenue North and Roy Street, where he was arrested and then booked into King County Jail for robbery; he already had a warrant out for his arrest for harassment.

Escalated argument

Police responded at 7:24 Thursday, Dec. 6, to the Blaine Center at 150 Denny Way for an assault between two guests at the homeless shelter for men.

The victim told police the suspect had been folding chairs, and that he folded and put away the chair he’d been using. The two men got into an argument over the chair, which resulted in the suspect placing the victim in a choke hold and throwing him on to a dining room table.

As the victim was lying on his stomach on the table, the suspect jumped on top of his back and continued choking him until staff separated the two and told the suspect to leave. Several witnesses corroborated this account.

The victim was taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.

Trespasser

Seattle Center security called 911 at 4:09 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, to report a suspect had pepper sprayed a security officer.

The suspect was in custody when police arrived, and a security guard was being treated by medics from Seattle Fire.

The guard said he’d been patrolling the fourth floor of one of the Seattle Center buildings — a floor that is closed to the public — when he found the suspect in the bathroom and escorted him to the escalator, telling him to take it downstairs.

The suspect said, “I don’t want to go that way,” and began walking away. The security officer grabbed the suspect’s shirt collar, so the suspect pulled out pepper spray and sprayed him in the face. The security officer tackled the suspect and called for backup, which came and handcuffed the suspect until police arrived.

The suspect told officers he pepper sprayed the security officer because he thought he was grabbing his neck.

He was arrested and booked into King County Jail for trespassing and assault.

Storage raid

Police responded to a burglary at a house in the 100 block of West Prospect Street at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8. The house is currently unoccupied and on the market.

The burglary was discovered by the realtor, but the owner was on site when officers arrived. He said the burglary likely occurred sometime overnight.

A STIHL leaf blower was stolen from a storage area under the stairs in the backyard. A storage Conex box in the yard had its lock cut off. A Harley motorcycle frame and several parts were stolen from inside the Conex.
