An installation crew attaches solar panels to the roof of a Queen Anne home earlier this year as part of the Solarize Seattle program. The organization is aimed at getting as many homes and businesses as possible to join the solar power revolution.

Come join Solarize Seattle: Magnolia for a free workshop on Saturday, Sept. 24, that will explain how you can solarize your home.

The meeting will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Magnolia Library and is part of the “Solarize Magnolia” program.

The program has a just more than one month left in the registration period for homeowners interested in information about buying solar panels and equipment at a discount through the organization.

Solarize Seattle: Magnolia has already registered 137 Magnolia residents. Of these, more than 100 have come to a workshop and nine have already contracted for a solar system. In addition to local residents, at least two area businesses are seriously considering going solar through Solarize Seattle: Magnolia. The group’s total numbers are already double what they were at the same time during the “Solarize Queen Anne” campaign earlier this year.
The organization has two workshops left during the next month. Beyond the Sept. 24 event, the group will be meeting from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on  Thursday, Oct. 20, at the Discovery Park Visitor’s Center.

The campaign is a product of a joint effort between three parties: Northwest SEED, Sustainable Magnolia and Puget Sound Solar.
