Seattle Public Utilities will be accepting Christmas trees and other holiday greens for free composting through Jan. 31.

Residents are asked to place their tree and bundled greens next to their compost bins during collection days. Renters may place two trees next to each compost cart during each collection day at their apartment.

Trees must be cut into lengths of four feet or less and be bare.

Up to three trees per vehicle will also be accepted at SPU’s transfer stations for free through Jan. 31. The north station is at 1350 N. 34th St. in Fremont.
