In honor of Seattle Animal Shelter’s 50th anniversary, adoption fees are being reduced by 50 percent through this weekend. The anniversary celebration will culminate with an open house from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 2061 15th Ave. W. Currently, many pets are waiting for adoption, including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, a pigeon and a snake. People can see them online,, or at the event, which will also feature refreshments, tours, raffle prizes, history displays and pet care information.
