SDOT is asking Seattle residents to start planning early for next week’s predicted snowfall.

The city was severely impacted by a major snow event last February. Since then King County Metro has implemented a policy of waiving fare enforcement during the Emergency Snow Network, which is implemented when Metro has to reduce service to roughly 60 core routes. People can sign up for transit alerts and find out more about snow routes at MetroWinter.com.

SDOT does plow Seattle streets during snow events, but only certain arterials. Queen Anne Avenue North is too steep and dangerous for crews to clear south of West Galer Street. A full service map is available here.

Snow and ice removal from sidewalks next to private property is the responsibility of property owners or occupants under city code.
