Residents are invited to attend the next Queen Anne Community Council Public Safety Committee meeting at 7 p.m. April 27 via Zoom.

State Rep. Liz Berry (D-Seattle) will speak about the efforts to pass police reform during the Washington state Legislature session as seen in various House and Senate bills.

With the issue of police reform a frequent topic during the last year, a number of issues have been identified and brought up during the legislative session, such as certification and decertification of uniformed police officers. Other topics include law enforcement collective bargaining, use of force, tactics, independent investigations and transparency of misconduct and complaints.

Discussion will include where Queen Anne residents stand on those issues, and whether they should be addressed at the state level. For more information, go to https://housedemocrats.wa.gov/berry/ or https://app.leg.wa.gov/billinfo/.

The meeting will also include a debriefing of a Seattle Police Department West Leadership Team tour in both Queen Anne and Uptown.
