After a two-year hiatus, the Roots of Empathy program is returning to second and third grades at Coe Elementary in Queen Anne. The program needs parent and baby to volunteer monthly to be “tiny teachers” and nurture empathy in children at the school. Babies should be between 2 and 4 months old, and volunteers. Roots of Empathy is a national evidence-based classroom program that focuses on reducing levels of aggression among school children while increasing social and emotional competence and empathy. To volunteer as a Roots of Empathy volunteer at Coe Elementary, contact program manager Suz Fix at sfix@rootsofempathy.org.
