A King County jury found a man accused of fatally stabbing the mother of his child inside the Seattle Center Armory in November of 2018 was found guilty of first-degree murder last week.

David Lee Morris, who was 30 at the time, was tried for murder in the Nov. 2, 2018, stabbing death of Gabriella Garcia, who was 28 at the time. According to police reports, Morris stabbed Garcia multiple times in front of their young son, who was 5 at the time, near MOD Pizza in the armory food court.

According to Queen Anne & Magnolia News report, Garcia died shortly after arriving at Harborview Medical Center. She had been issued a protection order against Morris at the time.

Morris was arrested by authorities after a bystander held him at gunpoint and another person pepper sprayed him outside the Seattle Center Armory.

According to the Queen Anne & Magnolia News, police reports state officers found Morris at Fifth Avenue North and Thomas Street and tased him twice because he did not drop the knife.

The article stated Morris told investigators at the time that he killed Garcia to “make a better life” for his son.

According to the article, Morris reportedly told investigators he did not like Garcia bringing other men around their son, and he knew he would not get custody.

Morris is scheduled to be sentenced Aug. 6 at King County Courthouse.
