Magnolia residents who want to participate in the upcoming early design review for the proposed Magnolia Safeway and housing project have only 14 days to return their comments to city staff.

The Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections will accept written comments through May 20. Residents are invited to comment on important site planning and design issues they believe should be addressed in the design of the project. The project entails demolishing the current Albertsons at 2550 32nd Ave. W. and constructing a seven-story, 138-unit apartment building with retail — a Safeway store, and parking for 224 vehicles.

This public comment period will replace testimony usually presented in person after the developers for the project opted to temporarily change from full-design review, with Design Review Board meetings, to an administrative design review, with an SDCI planner review, in accordance with emergency legislation passed by the City Council. Go to www.seattle.gov/sdci/about-us/who-we-are/design-review for more information.
