King County plans to begin work on a planned sewer and odor control upgrade project in Interbay beginning next year. The project was slated to begin this summer, but it is now scheduled to begin mid-2023.

The project entails upgrading one mile of aging sewer pipe in the Interbay neighborhood.

The county delayed construction to allow more time for acquiring permits necessary to complete the work.

King County expects to hire a contractor as early as fall 2022. The contractor may begin preparing for construction this winter. This early work will occur in and around the Interbay Pump Station.

Neighbors can expect increased truck traffic and noise. Major construction, including excavation, pipe installation and pipe relining will not begin until mid-2023. After a contractor is hired, staff will release information on what people can expect during pre-construction and major construction.
