The Church of the Ascension Healing & Justice Ministry is hosting a presentation about the criminal justice system featuring Eugene Youngblood of the Freedom Project at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Church of Ascension, 2330 Viewmont Way W., Magnolia.

Youngblood was once sentenced to life without parole for a crime he committed when he was 18 before Gov. Jay Inslee granted him clemency over 30 years later. Youngblood, the founder of the Black Prisoner Caucus, will speak about his experience and journey, as well as provide information and insight into the criminal justice system at the event.
