Sound Transit will begin 10 weeks of construction to build new tracks to connect downtown Seattle to the Eastside on Jan. 4.

The construction will require reducing service through March 15: four-car trains will run every 12 minutes; Pioneer Square is the last stop north and southbound (Angle Lake-Pioneer Square) and (UW-Pioneer Square), meaning people will have to change trains using a new, temporary center platform; bicycles will temporarily be prohibited at Pioneer Square; buses will replace light rail between Capitol Hill and SODO Jan. 4-5, Feb. 8-9, and March 14-15.

East Link light rail service is slated to start in 2023, serving 19 stations between Northgate and Redmond. There will be 10 new stations in Judkins Park, Mercer Island, Bellevue and Redmond.
