The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will close one of two westbound lanes this afternoon (Wednesday, Nov. 25) for repair and inspection in preparation for maintenance work on the bridge.

SDOT crews were making expansion joint repairs this week when deterioration of the support bearings was found.

Maintenance crews will make temporary repairs next week and will determine the need for any permanent repairs.

The bridge was built in 1929, and these ongoing efforts are to prolong the life of the bridge, which remains safe for travel.
