The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has announced an agreement with Ride the Ducks, which will start giving tours again this weekend, that requires vehicles to have two operators while carrying passengers in Seattle: one driver and one guide. Mayor Ed Murray will also ask the Seattle City Council for an ordinance to codify that requirement.

The agreement also specifies new routes to be used by Ride the Ducks, which avoids the Aurora Bridge and instead travel over the Fremont Bridge. The routes were selected after SDOT reviewed the new routes.

The Utilities and Transportation Commission (UTC) announced last month that Ride the Ducks’ “Truck Ducks” could resume operations in Seattle.

Before the end of January, Ride the Ducks must submit a safety management plan to the UTC for its review and approval.
